On Saturday, April 14, the second edition of the Bookstore Day will take place. On that day the bookstore and its customer are in the spotlight. A bookstore is more than just a store; here we go for inspiration, a beautiful poem or a funny story. In a bookstore your imagination is touched and that is reason for a party.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Throughout the Netherlands, more than a hundred writers appear especially for this Bookstore Day. There is also an extensive program with poets, drinking and dancing in bookstores, color competitions and workshops. Only on this day there are also special editions of books for sale. Exclusive editions, autographed publications or books that are greatly reduced in price in small quantities.<\/p>\n

In Utrecht City of Literature there is also plenty to do in the bookshops on this special day. That is why we have made an overview of all activities in Utrecht on Bookstore Day:<\/p>\n

  1. Writers breakfast in Savannah Bay:<\/a><\/strong>While you are enjoying croissants, bread, fruit, coffee and tea, three top authors, Marieke Lucas Rijneveld, Nina Polak and Ren\u00e9e van Marissing, will present their latest novels. After the breakfast is over you can even have your books signed.

  2. Meet & Greet Aafke Romeijn:<\/a><\/strong>A banging start of Bookstore Day in Broese Booksellers with the book launch of the new science fiction novel Concept M<\/em> by Aafke Romeijn. She will recite a piece from her novel, answer questions and then sign the book.

  3. Meet & Greet Mark Boog:<\/a><\/strong>A second activity at Broese Booksellers is a Meet & Greet with poet and novelist Mark Boog. He will recite from his new book Caf\u00e9 de Waarheid<\/em>, answer questions and then sign the book.

  4. Nora Fischer &\u00a0Marnix Dorrestein:<\/a><\/strong>There is also a musical event for the Bookstore Day in Broese Booksellers. Nora Fischer and Marnix Dorrestein present their new CD Hush<\/em> and will play a number of songs live.

  5. Meet & Greet Murat Isik:<\/a><\/strong>The icing on the cake in Broese Booksellers is the Meet & Greet with Murat Isik. He will talk about his most recent and prize-winning book, Wees Onzichtbaar<\/em>, answer questions from the audience and sign afterwards.

  6. Bookstore Day in the Literaire Boekhandel:<\/a><\/strong>Especially for this special day, the Literary Bookshop invited three writers, Mark Boog, Jannah Loontjens and Peter Zantingh, to talk about and read from their newly published novels. Laurens Ham (lecturer at the UU) will lead the conversation.
